Grant Younie enters his first season as a graduate assistant coach with the Nichols women's volleyball program in 2026.
Younie is fresh off a successful four-year collegiate playing career that included stops at Ottawa University (Kansas) and Virginia Wesleyan (Batten University). A standout outside hitter, Younie began his collegiate career at Ottawa, where he made an immediate impact for the Braves. As a freshman in 2023, he earned Honorable Mention All-GPAC recognition after appearing in 21 matches and recording 120 kills, a .158 hitting percentage, 19 service aces, 65 digs, and 28 blocks. His 19 service aces ranked among the top single-season performances in program history. Younie continued to develop into one of Ottawa’s top offensive threats during his sophomore campaign in 2024, earning Second Team All-GPAC honors. He appeared in 19 matches while totaling 155 kills, 87 digs, 26 blocks, and a .148 hitting percentage. Through two seasons with the Braves, Younie accumulated 275 kills, 152 digs, 54 blocks, and 20 service aces.
Following his time at Ottawa, Younie continued his collegiate career at Virginia Wesleyan University, where he competed as an upperclassman and brought valuable experience, leadership, and versatility to the program.
A native of Pratt, Kansas, Younie was a multi-sport standout at Pratt High School, competing in football, basketball, and baseball while also participating in Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, band, and National Honor Society. He played club volleyball for MAVS under coaches Todd Sword and Geoff Branine.
Younie earned his degree in secondary education and brings a wealth of experience as a former collegiate student-athlete to his coaching role.
