Mike Mason

Mike Mason begins his fourth year on "The Hill" and was elevated to the Associate Director Athletics role in the Spring of 2025. Mason will oversee the scheduling and transportation duties for the Bison moving forward in his new role. 

Mason joined the Bison in the 2023-24 season as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications, working closely with the Football, Field Hockey, Men’s and Women’s Ice Hockey, Baseball, and Men’s and Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field programs. He was later elevated to Director of Content Creation, Social Media, and Branding for the Division of Athletics for the 2024-25 season, where he oversaw the department’s social media strategy and produced graphics, videos, and digital content for all 24 varsity programs at the College.

Prior to joining Nichols, Mason spent two years as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Union College in Schenectady, New York. In that role, he served as the primary contact for the Division I women’s ice hockey program, along with the men’s and women’s cross country teams, men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track & field teams, men’s and women’s soccer programs, and the women’s softball team. He also gained postseason experience assisting with NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Regional competition during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons, as Union served as a host site, and contributed photography work during the 2021-22 NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse National Championship game. Additionally, he assisted with NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Regional play in Albany, New York during the 2021-22 season.

Mason previously worked for three years in the Sports Information Department at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, serving as both a student worker and intern. His responsibilities included a range of athletic communications duties, including public address announcing and play-by-play broadcasting. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Health Studies with a minor in Coaching from Saint Joseph’s in 2021, followed by a master’s degree in Sports Management from Southern New Hampshire University in 2022.

As a student-athlete at Saint Joseph’s, Mason competed in both cross country and track & field, serving as team captain for track & field during his sophomore year. He earned Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Academic honors in 2021 and All-Conference recognition in 2018. He also served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) during his junior and senior years.
