Nichols College Athletics

Melissa Mansfield begins her fourth season as an assistant women’s ice hockey coach at Nichols in 2016-17.

In 2014-15, the Bison won a program-record eight games and returned to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s East playoffs for the first time since 2012. One year earlier, the Bison set a program-record for fewest goals allowed in a season (94) and lowered their goals against average (GAA) from 4.29 in 2012-13 to 3.76 this past season. 

Mansfield was a three-year member of the women’s ice hockey team (2008-11) who appeared in 32 games between the pipes for the Bison. She served as the Burrillville High School girls’ varsity goalie coach in 2008-09, was the PAL House League Squirt Division goalie coach in 2009 and 2010, and an instructor at the New York Islanders Goalie Camp in 2008 and 2009.
