Brian Abraham begins his foruth season as the assistant women’s ice hockey coach at Nichols College in 2024-25.
In his first season on 'the Hill' in 2021-22, the Bison established program records for wins (16), fewest losses (9), and consecutive wins (6). They won the second playoff game in program history with a 3-2 OT triumph against Salve Regina and closed the season with single-season records for goals/game (3.23), goals (84), assists (114), points (198), PP goals (22), and fewest goals against (47). Two student-athletes – Alicia Hunks and Victoria Bakopanos – received Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) All-Conference honors while 12 more were named to the academic all-conference team.
Abraham – who has served as an assistant coach in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) for Michigan State and the head coach for the University of Minnesota in the ACHA – is currently an Associate Professor of Management at Nichols. He guided the Golden Gophers to the ACHA National Tournament.
Abraham spent the last 15 years in Minnesota running several of his companies, teaching at business schools, and coaching hockey. In addition to coaching boys and girls association hockey in Minnetonka, he coached the Minnesota Ice Cougars AAA team for seven years, finishing at the U19 level. Abraham’s teams won a variety of championships, including the International Cup and the Gopher Cup.
A 1998 graduate of Skidmore College, Abraham was a four-year member of the Thoroughbreds men’s ice hockey program (1984-88) who also played for the Islanders Hockey Club, St. John’s Prep (Danvers, Mass.), and The Pingree School (South Hamilton, Mass.). He holds a bachelor’s degrees from Skidmore, an MBA from Babson College, a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Tufts University, and is completing his Ph.D. in Management from Case Western Reserve University.
