Amy Assad ’19 begins her first season as an assistant coach with the Nichols College women’s basketball program in 2021-22.
Assad – who spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Smith College softball program (2019-21) – also served as the head coach of the Rhode Island Swarm AAU Basketball team from 2018-20. She studied opponent’s games to develop an analysis of their skill set and tactics while managing practice sessions and drills.
At Smith, Assad was responsible for recruiting student-athletes and used both Front Rush and Hudl recruiting databases. She also managed the program’s social media accounts and assisted the head coach in training sessions.
Assad received her Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from NC after majoring in Sport Management. During that time, she was a member of the women’s basketball (2016-18), softball (2016), and track & field programs while also serving as a communications assistant with the sport management department.
