Sydnee Bessler begins her third season as an assistant coach with the softball program at Nichols College in 2022.
Nichols finished the 2021 campaign with 16 wins and qualified for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) playoffs for the third-straight season. Five student-athletes were named to the CCC Academic All-Conference Team while freshman Hailey Bogusz was named to the CCC Third Team.
The Bison were off to a hot start in 2020 before the season was canceled due to COVID-19. The Bison split their six games at the PFX Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, highlighted by wins over Bridgewater State and Keuka on the final day of competition. The pitching staff posted a 3.13 earned run average (ERA) under Bessie’s tutelage as senior Alexis Ferris fanned 16 batters in 17 IP while freshman Alyssa Ouellette was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Pitcher of the Week after posting a 2-0 record with a 1.58 ERA.
A 2019 graduate of CCC-rival UNE, Bessler is a two-time All-CCC First Team selection (2018-19) who holds a degree in sport management. She closed her career with a record of 40-29 with a 2.83 earned run average (ERA) and 354 strikeouts in 393 innings of work.
