Steve Pilcher

Steve Pilcher begins his second season with the softball program and first as head coach in 2015.

Pilcher – who served as an assistant coach last season – began his own AAU Summer Fastpitch program with three teams in 2012 – one U16 team and two U18 College Showcase teams – under Show Baseball & Softball Academy, which offers the highest level of coaching and instruction to baseball and softball players in New England.

One year later, Pilcher and his wife, Courtney, began managing the academy, which expanded to six softball teams ages U12-18 – including one College Showcase team. The academy currently has nine softball teams ranging from U10-18 and one College Showcase team.

During the winter, Pilcher conducts a successful hitting program at the Show facility and also holds private hitting and fielding lessons year-round. Currently, 13 of Pilcher’s former students are playing softball at the collegiate level.

“I am very excited for the opportunity to be the head softball coach at Nichols College,” said Pilcher. “It is an exciting time to take over the program with the young student-athletes we currently have and the potential of the incoming freshmen class. I am grateful for the opportunity Charlie Robert and coach Mallet have given me. I have been fortunate enough to learn from several great coaches over the past few years, including coach Mallet and a pair of former professional baseball players in Steve Lomasney and Jeff Allison, both of whom I work with on a daily basis.  I am proud to be a Bison and eagerly await the challenges and opportunities ahead.”

Pilcher enjoyed a standout baseball playing career at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School which later continued at North Shore Community College. When an injury ended his baseball career, Pilcher joined the softball ranks and quickly became one of the most successful players in the country. His men’s team placed second out of 188 teams at the Men’s World Series of Softball in 2011 as Pilcher took home All-World Tournament Team honors.

The following year, Pilcher played with a different team and again helped them to a second-place finish at Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex. For his efforts, Pilcher was named to the All-World Tournament Team for the second-straight year, this after twice being named to the All-Tournament Team at the Northeast Region Tournament. Pilcher also owns a Massachusetts State Tournament MVP.

Pilcher resides in Hampstead, N.H.
