Alex Suprise begins his second season as an assistant coach with the Nichols College men's soccer program in 2019.
Suprise – who is working towards earning his Master of Science in Organization Leadership at Nichols – will also serve as the Recreation and Fitness Center Director under head coach Chris Traina’s guidance while helping to recruit in the Midwest Region of the United States. Most recently, Suprise worked at the Virginia Rush Soccer Club, where he was the head coach of the U9/10 boys team and U8 girls team, and personal trainer for members of the program. Last summer, Suprise worked as the Massachusetts High School Boys Soccer Preseason Camp Director.
A native of Milwaukee, Wis., Suprise came to Dudley following a four-year playing career as a defender at Virginia Wesleyan. He appeared in 54 matches (38 starts) and collected 12 points (1-10-12), including a career-high four assists as a senior. Suprise scored his first collegiate goal at Lynchburg in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Semifinals on November 4, 2014. The Marlins posted a combined 36-24-12 mark during Suprise’s time in Virginia. He graduated in May after majoring in both business and criminal justice, and was also a student-worker in the sports information department.
During his time at Virginia Wesleyan, Suprise was a staff coach for the Marlins Soccer Academy Summer Camps (2014-17) and also worked the program’s ID Camp (2016-18). He represented the program at Chowan University Men’s Soccer Winter ID Camp (2017).
Suprise cut his teeth coaching for the Milwaukee Wave as a summer camp instructor (2013-15) working with kids ages 5-11. He was also a summer camp director for the parks and recreation department in Franklin, Wis. (2015), where he created a curriculum for coaches to follow, as well as the Croatian Eagles Soccer Club (2012-17) and Milwaukee Urban Soccer Collaborative (2014-17). Suprise was the summer speed and agility director, and personal trainer for the Eagles and directed over 20 youth soccer camps in urban Milwaukee, hiring and training coaches to operate the camps while coaching campers.
