Patrick Salkind begins his third season as goaltending coach with the Nichols College in 2019-20.
During his first season behind the bench in 2017-18, Salkind helped Colin Brennan earn Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Third Team honors for the second-consecutive season. Salkind also help mentor Henry Burns, who was forced into action for a chunk of the season when Brennan went down with an injury. Burns posted a 6-2-0 record with a 2.29 goals against average (GAA) and a .907 save percentage in 12 appearances. Once Brennan returned from injury, he backstopped the Bison to their first-ever Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, making 36 saves in the championship game against UNE.
Salkind was a four-year member of the Bison men’s ice hockey program (2012-15; 2016-17) and finished his career 8-1-0 with a 2.75 goals against average (GAA) and a .913 save percentage. He won three games in both 2014-15 and 2016-17 and was a three-time academic all-conference selection (2013-14; 2014-15; 2016-17).
As a senior, Salkind was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Goaltender of the Week on January 23 after making 38 saves in a shutout win over Wentworth. He was also a member of both Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Northeast Championship teams in 2013-14 and 2014-15.
