Josh Hand begins his first season as an assistant coach with the men’s ice hockey program in 2015-16.
Hand will work as the team’s recruiting coordinator, scouting potential student-athletes from various junior, high school, and prep school leagues. He will also work with the goaltenders and defensemen and contribute to practice planning and in-game strategy.
Hand spent the past two seasons at Manhattanville, where he was in charge of recruiting for both the men’s and women’s ice hockey programs. He participated in designing and running all practices and used Game Breaker for video breakdown and game analysis.
Prior to his arrival in Rye, Hand was an assistant coach at Penn State for two seasons (2011-13), where he assisted in the program’s transition from a club program to the Division I level. His coaching responsibilities focused primarily on goalies and assisted the head coach with practices and training sessions.
Hand – who was first an assistant coach (2010-11) and later head coach (2011-12) of the Nittany Lions club ice hockey program – owns a bachelor of arts from Concordia (2008) and a Master of Science from Manhattanville (2015).
