Michael Mailhot begins his fourth season as a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff at Nichols College in 2018-19.
Nichols tied the program-record for wins (25) in 2017-18 and won its second-straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship. A total of four student-athletes garnered all-conference honors, including CCC First Team picks Marcos Echevarria and DeAnte Bruton. Echevarria was also tabbed CCC Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season.
In 2016-17, the Bison won their first-ever CCC Championship as well as the first NCAA Tournament game in program history. A pair of student-athletes took home major conference awards – Echevarria (Player of the Year) and Bruton (Rookie of the Year).
In his first season at Nichols in 2015-16, the Bison won a program-record 25 games, captured the CCC Regular Season Championship for the third-straight season, and won their first-ever Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Region Championship.
Mailhot came to Dudley by way of the United States Coast Guard Academy, where he spent the 2014-15 campaign as an assistant coach with the men’s hoops squad. He generated scouting reports and broke down opponents offensive and defensive tendencies at practice. He also worked with Synergy, Krossover, and Hudl.
Prior to his arrival at Nichols, Mailhot worked at Emmanuel College, first with the women’s basketball team (2013-14) and later the men’s (2014). He helped recruit the Class of 2019 for both.
Mailhot is a graduate of Emmanuel College, where he was a four-year starter and two-year captain (2011-12; 2012-13) for the Saints men’s basketball program. He previously played at Norwich Free Academy and was named both the New London Day and Norwich Bulletin Player of the Year in 2009.
