Matt Streich

Matthew Streich begins his second season as an assistant coach with the men’s basketball program in 2018-19.

Nichols tied the program-record for wins (25) in 2017-18 and won its second-straight Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship in Streich’s first season in Dudley. A total of four student-athletes garnered all-conference honors, including CCC First Team picks Marcos Echevarria and DeAnte Bruton. Echevarria was also tabbed CCC Player of the Year for the second-consecutive season.

Streich spent the last three seasons as an assistant coach at Emmanuel College in Boston, where he twice helped the Saints advance to the Greater Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Semifinals (2014-15 & 2015-16). Streich was responsible for national recruiting, scouting opponents, hosted individual workouts, and held film sessions.

Streich has previously been an assistant boys basketball coach at both East Greenwich H.S. (2011-12) and Xaverian Brothers H.S. (2013-14), as well as the head coach of the Rhode Island Hawks (AAU) (2011-13) and New England Storm (AAU) (2014-17). Since 2015, Streich has worked as a private basketball coach for Coach Up, Inc.

Streich received his Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College in 2011. He was a three-year member of the Bombers baseball program, earning Empire 8 All-Conference honors in each of those campaigns. He played four seasons of professional baseball overseas in the Swedish Elite Series (2011), Greater Brisbane League (2012-13), Pecos League (2012; 2014), and Pacific Association (2013).

He is currently a member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
