Colin Lockhart '23

Colin Lockhart ‘23 enters his second year as the Men’s Basketball Graduate Assistant for Nichols College in 2024-25.

A 2023 graduate of Nichols College, Lockhart returned to his alma mater to contribute to the program's development under Head Coach Tyler Hundley. In his second season with the Bison, Lockhart guided forward Ryan Savoy to renamed Conference of New England (CNE) Defensive Player of the Year, with guard Javen Flowers-Smith and forward Simon Percy earning spots on the All-Conference First and Second Teams, respectively. In addition, sophomores Luke Chapman and Ethan Minarik earned College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honors.

Lockhart helped guide the Nichols College Men’s Basketball program to 22 wins in the 2023-24 season, including a dominant 15-1 record in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play. Lockhart played a key role in the team’s 16-game win streak—the third longest in program history—culminating in the Bison’s fourth consecutive regular season championship.

Throughout the season, Lockhart’s impact was felt across multiple areas of the program, including player development, game preparation, and recruiting. His contributions supported Head Coach Brock Erickson and a coaching staff that earned CCC Coach of the Year honors.

Under Lockhart’s support and development efforts, standout guard Tavon Jones was named D3Hoops.com All-District II First Team, National Association Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District II First Team, CCC Player of the Year, and earned All-Conference First Team recognition, while Dominic Mello was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

In addition to his contributions on the court, Lockhart monitored student-athlete academic progress and coordinated community service and fundraising efforts.

Lockhart is no stranger to the Nichols basketball program, having spent two years as one of Bison’s student managers. During his time with the team, Lockhart was responsible for pre-game and post-game travel, charting practice and game statistics, assisting the coaching staff in video editing, and managing and maintaining the Bison’s recruiting database.

Lockhart’s biggest role was his involvement with the Bison’s social media. In 2023, Nichols College Men’s Basketball was third in social media engagement out of NCAA basketball teams in Massachusetts behind Boston College (enrollment of 15,000) and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (enrollment of 28,000). The 4,000,000+ views, posts, and likes was beneficial not just for Nichols Men’s Basketball, but for the marketing efforts for Nichols College.
Lockhart also serves as a Recruiting Coordinator for the Hoop Group assisting in organization and execution of showcase events, elite camps, and recruiting platforms that attract 400 to 800 participations and coaches from across the nation.

A native of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Lockhart is currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Critical Thinking.
