Zackary Gorczynski '18

Zachary Gorczynski ’18 begins his fifth season as an assistant coach and third as Director of Football Operations and Defensive Coordinator at his alma mater in 2022. This season, he will also coach the inside linebackers.

The Bison – who saw the 2020 campaign cancelled due to COVID-19 – saw five student-athletes earn Coast Conference (CCC) Football All-Conference honors last fall while Tyler Goodman received the Senior Perseverance and Achievement Award. Additionally, six were named to the Worcester Area Football Association (WAFA) All-Star Teams and 17 garnered CCC Academic All-Conference honors.

The 2019 campaign saw the Bison reach the six-win mark for the second time in four seasons and come within one win of their first bowl game appearance since 2000. The season was highlighted by a 25-15 win on Homecoming Weekend over Salve Regina – the Bison’s first over the Seahawks since 2009. The win left them at 3-1 for the first time since 2007. Five student-athletes received CCC Football All-Conference honors while seven were named to the Worcester Area All-Star squad. Additionally, 11 student-athletes grabbed academic all-conference honors.

Gorczynski was a three-time Academic All-Conference selection (New England Football Conference 2015 & 2016, Commonwealth Coast Conference 2017). He appeared in 32 games for the Bison during his career and, after compiling 35 tackles combined during his first three seasons, racked up 68 as a senior (29 solo) – good for second on the team. Gorczynski also collected 6.5 tackles for loss and a pair of interceptions in 2017.

Gorczynski – who directly coached All-CCC performers Michael Spraulding and Joe Cox – received a degree in sport management from NC before earning his master’s degree in business administration in 2020.
