Luke Bakanowsky begins his third season at Nichols College in 2017 and second as offensive coordinator.
Bakanowsky’s offensive averaged the fifth-most points in program history in 2016 at 25.7 ppg. The Bison compiled a school-record 4,420 yards of total offense, led by New England Football Conference (NEFC) First Team wide receiver Tony Martignoli and Second Team quarterback Chris Mullins (QB). Martignoli established single-season marks for receptions (62) and yards (940) while Mullins threw for a program-record 3,016 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Bakanowsky graduated from Merrimack College in May with a degree in business. He was a four-year member of the Warriors football program, where he started a pair of games as a senior after spending the prior two seasons as the team’s backup signal caller. Bakanowsky established a career-high in both completed (30) and passing yards (331) against Bentley on October 11, 2014.
A native of Ashburnham, Mass., Bakanowsky led Oakmont Regional to a Super Bowl championship as a junior, a game which saw him earn MVP honors. Bakanowsky was a Worcester Telegram & Gazette Super Team member as a senior.
