Elizabeth Doherty begins her second season as a graduate assistant with the Nichols College field hockey staff in 2018.
In her first season at the helm of the program, the Bison posted their highest win total since 2012 (eight) and snapped a 35-game losing skid to Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) foes with a 2-1 win over Roger Williams. The Bison also downed Gordon (2-0) and Salve Regina (4-3), the latter of which qualified for the conference playoffs. Three student-athletes were named to the CCC Academic All-Conference squad.
Doherty – who holds a Level 2 coaching accreditation with USA Field Hockey – was a four-year member of the SUNY Geneseo field hockey program (2013-16) who graduated this past May with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. A member of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) All-Rookie and Second Team in 2013, Doherty collected 28 points (11-6-28) and 13 defensive saves in 80 games for the Knights – including a career-high eight goals as a freshman. Doherty notched four defensive saves as a senior.
Off the field, Doherty was a three-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) at SUNY Geneseo. She served as secretary as a sophomore, vice president as a junior, and President as a senior. She was also a member of the Dean’s List and minored in Mathematics. Additionally, Doherty was a coach at the Massapequa School District Field Hockey Camp from 2009-15.
