Tyler Gauthier

  • Title
    Baseball Assistant Coach
Tyler Gauthier begins his second season as an assistant baseball coach at Nichols College in 2016.

Under Gauthier’s tutelage in 2015, the NC pitching staff lowered its earned run average (ERA) by 82 points from the previous season’s mark. Opponents saw their batting average drop by 38 points, leaving them with their lowest average since 2011. The Bison also allowed nearly one walk less than in 2013.

Gauthier – who spent two years pitching in the Tampa Bay Rays system (2013-14) – serves as both pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for the varsity team, and the head coach of the junior varsity program. He played three years at Southern New Hampshire University, where he helped the Penman advance to the 2012 NCAA Division III College World Series and the 2013 East Regional.

In three years with the Penmen, Gauthier went 7-6 with a 3.09 earned run average (ERA) in 36 appearances (13 starts). In 96.0 innings of work, he allowed just 33 earned runs and fanned 89 as opponents hit just .208 against the righty from Lynn, Mass.

Gauthier currently works as a pitching director for Ultimate Sports Academy. He received his bachelor of arts in criminal justice while earning a minor in sociology/psychology from SNHU in 2013.
