Max Weir joined the Nichols College baseball staff as Associate Head Coach in the summer of 2023.
Weir came to Nichols from the University of Massachusetts where he spent one season as an assistant coach. There, he worked with catchers and hitters.
Prior to his one year stint at UMass, Weir was the Head Developmental Team Coach at division one Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. As the junior varsity head coach, Weir spent time recruiting, designing practice and game schedules, coordinating meals and team travel, creating and monitoring team budgets, compliance, assisting with player development, recruiting, and fundraising.
Weir has simultaneously spent time with Powerhouse Training in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts as the Assistant General Manager and a baseball coach. There, he is tasked with designing plans for offensive and defensive player development. The program has seen over sixty college commitments in Weir's three year tenure.
Prior to Gardner-Webb and Powerhouse Training, Weir was an Assistant Baseball Coach at American International College for four years. At AIC, he assisted with player development, designing practice plans, coaching outfielders, recruiting, scouting and game planning. He also coordinated team travel, meals, budget and aided with team fundraising. Weir guided outfielder Josh Aviles to the programs first ever National Division II Rawlings Gold Glove Award, as well.
Additionally, Weir spent a season with the Boston Red Sox with the Fan and Youth Engagement team, aiding with various public and private events in New England, as well as Fenway Park to enhance the overall fan experience. He also helped with marketing and promotional aspects, such as ticket initiatives, tabling at partnered events and executing large-scale events.
