Hal Landers

Hal Landers begins his third season as an assistant baseball coach at Nichols College in 2016.

Landers comes to Nichols following a standout four-year playing career at Wheaton (MA) College which culminated in an appearance in the 2012 College World Series (CWS) National Championship game. He graduated as the Lyons all-time leader in at-bats with 723 and stolen bases with 85 – one more than current San Diego Padres outfielder Chris Denorfia. Landers also ranks second in games played (179), hits (250), and runs (182), fourth in triples (10), sixth in total bases (318), and seventh in RBI (122).

“I am really excited to welcome Hal into our program,” said Nichols head baseball coach Nick Puccio, who was an assistant coach at Wheaton during Landers’ career (2011-12). “Hal had a lot of success as a player and understands the mentality and culture needed for us to be successful. Hal also has a very good understanding of what we want to do with our offense, and he will also help coach our outfielders."

In four years at Wheaton, Landers helped the Lyons win three New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championships and earn three NCAA Tournament berths. Landers batted .381 (8-of-21) with five RBI in five College World Series games.

For his career, Landers was selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III National Gold Glove Team in both 2011 and 2012, and earned NEWMAC First Team honors in 2011 and Second Team honors in 2012.

Landers is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership from Nichols.
