FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (9/8/2026) - Sophomore
Alyse Mutti scored a pair of goals to lead the Nichols College field hockey team earned a 4-2 victory over Framingham State on Tuesday evening at Maple Street Field.
With the win, the Bison improve to 2-1 overall on the season, while the Rams fall to 2-1 with the setback.
Framingham State struck first just 2:13 into the contest, but Nichols was quick to respond less than six minutes later.
Lily Gibson and
Emma Bianculli set up
Sofia Calabro for the equalizer at the 7:50 mark, sending the teams into the second quarter tied at 1-1. Nichols then took control in the second quarter behind a pair of goals. Mutti gave the Bison their first lead of the afternoon with an unassisted marker at 18:00, her first with the Bison, before Bianculli found the back of the cage as time expired in the half, extending the Nichols advantage to 3-1 at the break.
The Bison continued their offensive momentum early in the third quarter when Mutti scored her second goal of the game at 33:56, finishing a setup from
Spencer Cameron to push the lead to three. Framingham State cut into the deficit later in the third, but Nichols held firm over the final 15 minutes to secure the 4-2 victory.
Goalkeeper
Fallyn Belisle turned aside 11 shots in the win, while the Nichols defense also came up with six defensive saves.
Alyse Mutti and
Brooke Morin each recorded a defensive save, while
Gabby Couillard finished with three. Bianculli and Mutti combined for all four Nichols goals, while Gibson and Cameron each contributed the helpers.
Field hockey hosts the University of Hartford (1-2, 0-0 CNE) for their first Conference of New England test of the season, with game time set for 5:00 PM at Michael J. Vendetti Field.
