DUDLEY, Mass. (9/30/2026) - The Nichols College athletic community continues to grow through the dedication of the coaches and staff who work alongside its student-athletes each day. Among them is Brendin Marks, who has brought his experience as a collegiate track & field athlete to Nichols as he begins his coaching journey.
A native of Mount Vernon, Alabama, Marks attended the University of Mount Olive, where he competed in track & field. His passion for competition and desire to continue developing as an athlete played a major role in his decision to compete collegiately.
"I committed to track and field because I loved competing and wanted to continue developing as an athlete," Marks said. "College track also gave me the opportunity to challenge myself, meet new people, and work toward bigger goals."
His time as a student-athlete has also provided Marks with a foundation that he now carries into his role as a coach. Having experienced the demands of collegiate athletics firsthand, Marks understands the commitment and discipline required from the athlete's perspective.
"Being a student-athlete has made the transition to coaching easier because I understand what it is like to be on the athlete's side," Marks said. "I learned the importance of hard work, discipline, and listening to your coaches, and now I can use those experiences to help other athletes improve."
At Nichols, Marks has continued to expand his coaching knowledge while working alongside Coach Luke and Coach Len. The collaborative environment has given him an opportunity to observe different coaching approaches while gaining valuable hands-on experience.
"The environment has been very supportive and team-oriented," Marks said. "Working with Coach Luke and Coach Len has allowed me to learn different coaching styles and gain hands-on experience. I feel like I'm able to ask questions, learn from them, and contribute to the team at the same time."
As Marks continues to develop as a coach, his experience as a former student-athlete remains central to his approach. From understanding the challenges athletes face to helping them pursue their own goals, Marks is building on the lessons he learned throughout his collegiate career while helping shape the next generation of Nichols student-athletes.
