Nichols College Athletics

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (9/1/2026) - The Nichols College women's soccer team opened the 2026 season with a non-conference battle on the road against Albertus Magnus College this Tuesday afternoon. Despite a long fought 90 minutes, the Bison were ultimately bested by the Falcons, 0-3 at Celentano Field.

The Falcons struck twice late in the opening half, with Gabby Reddy finding the back of the net in the 33rd minute before Taylar Gottsegen doubled the advantage less than two minutes later. 

The Bison continued to battle in the second half, with Cassie Rice and Rylyn McInnis each registering great chances as Nichols looked to cut into the deficit. Albertus Magnus, however, added an insurance goal in the 52nd minute when Grace D'Amico scored off an assist from Taya Bagley. 

Nichols generated seven shots total for the game, including three on target, with Serephine Jodoin leading the Bison with three attempts. Freshman goalkeeper Elizabeth Johnson made five saves across 66 minutes in goal, while fellow freshman goalkeeper Emily Dougenik notched two saves in a strong 24 minutes. The Bison also earned five corner kicks compared to one for Albertus Magnus. 

Nichols will look to regroup and return to the pitch with its next non-conference match up against Russell Sage College on Friday, September 4th. The match is set to kick-off at 3:00 PM on the Nichols Soccer Field.
