Women’s Track & Field Competes at CNE Championships, Stamps Three Records

WENHAM, Mass. (4/24/2026-4/25/2026) - The Nichols College women's track & field program competed at Gordon College over the weekend in the 2026 Conference of New England (CNE) Outdoor Track & Field Championships, going head-to-head with conference opponents at the Brigham Athletic Complex and contributing points across both track and field events.

On the track, Gabrielle McKayle led the Bison with a pair of strong sprint performances, placing fifth in the women's 100m dash (12.72) and earning 4 points, before matching that result in the 200m dash with another fifth-place finish (26.30) and 4 points.

In the field events, Adison Dawe delivered a standout performance in the hammer throw, finishing fourth with a mark of 41.70m to earn 5 points for Nichols.

The Bison also saw contributions from their relay squad, as the women's 4x100m relay team of Gabrielle McKayle, Kamora Helton, Summer Bruno, and Ashley Cabrera-Rodriguez competed against a deep field.

The Bison took home three records in the meet, highlighted by Dawe's hammer throw on day one. Dawe now holds the program record for the women's hammer throw with 41.70m, replacing the last mark she set this season of 40.29m. Layman also replaced the women's 400m hurdles record with a time of 1:15.54 taking over her own personal record of 1:16.50. Capping off the record-breaking was the women's 4x400m relay team consisting of Summer Bruno, Lixion Koulmbai, Layman, and McKayle, notching a time of 4:23.78. The time replaces the same group's time of 4:28.19.

Nichols College will see competition next at the NCAA DIII East Regionals on May 1st and 2nd.
