Men’s Track & Field Earns Fifth-Place Finish in CNE Championships

WENHAM, Mass. (4/24/2026-4/25/2026) - The Nichols College men's track & field program traveled to Gordon College starting Friday to compete in the 2026 Conference of New England (CNE) Outdoor Track & Field Championships. With all CNE members arriving at the Brigham Athletic Complex for the weekend meet, Nichols fought for points in a compiled team score, finishing with 67.50 points and stamping a fifth-place mark.

On Friday, the Bison competed in a day solely composed of field events and the men's 3000m steeplechase. The day started at 2:00 PM with the men's pole vault, men's javelin throw, men's high jump, and men's hammer throw. 

In the men's pole vault, captain Liam Wilcox produced a fifth-place height of 3.80m. The mark earned points towards Nichols' with 3.5, the first points on the board for the Bison in the meet. Michael Carbone finished sixth in the men's hammer throw, earning 3 points with a distance of 38.05m. Nichols boasted two scoring results from the men's high jump event; Braxton Rocha notched a distance of 1.80m (6th place, 3 points), with Jackson Shea posting a third-place finish and 6 points earning 1.85m on his attempt. 

Following was the men's long jump and the men's 3000m steeplechase. The Bison were able to produce two point-scoring attempts in men's long jump. Rocha finished seventh with a 6.42m jump and two points just behind Deshawn Faulk's 6.44m and 3 points in seventh-place. 

Shea's jump earned a podium appearance with his third-place finish warranted a bronze medal.

On Saturday, the Bison competed in a full day of events. The day began with the men's discus and men's triple jump. Track events commenced with the men's 4x100m relay, followed by the men's 1500m. The men's 110m hurdles took place next, followed by the men's 400m and men's 100m. The men's 800m followed, while the men's shot put was contested shortly after. The men's 400m hurdles came next, followed by the men's 200m. Distance events continued with the men's 5000m, before concluding with the men's 4x400m relay.


On the track, Nolan Charbonneau led the way with a standout performance in the men's 110m hurdles, capturing first place in 15.42 to earn 10 points and a gold medal podium finish. Charbonneau also added a third-place finish in the 400m dash (50.01), securing 6 points and another podium appearance. In the men's 800m, Gregory Sadlak produced a strong race, finishing third in 1:58.86 to earn 6 points and a podium finish. The Bison relay squads also made an impact, as the 4x100m relay team of Eric Manilut, Charbonneau, Giormani Fortes De Brito, and Rocha placed third (43.45) for 6 points, while the 4x400m relay team of Charbonneau, Patrick Bergin, Fortes De Brito, and Sadlak also secured third place (3:29.62) and 6 points, earning podium finishes in both events. In the men's 100m dash, Manilut (7th, 2 points) and Rocha (8th, 1 point) added to the scoring effort.

Rocha continued his strong effort in the field events in the triple jump, placing fourth with a mark of 12.82m (5 points), while Faulk contributed a seventh-place finish (2 points). In the long jump.


Carbone added an eighth-place finish in the shot put (12.54m, 1 point). Hunter Schiller led Nichols in the shot put with a seventh-place mark of 12.79m (2 points).

Of the performances at the meet, the Bison notched two record-breaks. Rocha's triple jump attempt of 12.82m yet again breaks his own record to stand alone at the top of the program, with Charbonneau's 400m dash time of 50.01 tops Judeson Orvil's (2017-2020) time of 50.60 set at the NCAA DIII East Regional (5/6/2017).

Nichols College will see competition next at the NCAA DIII East Regionals on May 1st and 2nd.
