Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bison Clinch Playoff Spot with Statement Win Against Curry

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College men's lacrosse team brought the energy and delivered when it mattered most, taking down Curry College 11-8 in conference action Wednesday afternoon at Vendetti Field.

With the win, the Bison surge to 8-9 overall and 3-5 in conference play, while the Colonels drop to 3-13 and 1-7.

Nichols was powered by a statement performance from Conor Doherty, who erupted for five goals and took over the game when it was on the line. Tyler Olivo and Jack Campbell each buried two goals, while Jonah Libby and Kane Williams added one apiece. Libby also facilitated the offense with two assists, and Max Leavitt, Williams, and Juan Morales each chipped in a helper. On the defensive end, the Bison dominated possession with 35 ground balls and controlled the faceoff battle, while Carter Renaud stood tall with 14 saves between the pipes.

Nichols came out firing in the opening quarter, setting the tone early. Campbell got things started before Doherty and Williams followed with strikes to build momentum. Curry answered with a pair of goals, but the Bison held firm and carried a 3-2 lead after one.

The second quarter is where Nichols hit another gear. Olivo jumpstarted the offense, and Doherty continued to dominate, finding the back of the net multiple times—including a clutch man-up finish. Campbell added his second, and Libby delivered a huge man-down goal late in the half. The Bison controlled the pace and took command with an 8-5 lead heading into the break.

Curry refused to go away, storming back in the third quarter with a three-goal run to even the score at 8-8. Momentum began to shift, but the Bison defense dug in. Renaud came up with key saves under pressure, keeping Nichols steady as the game tightened heading into the fourth.

When the moment called for it, Nichols answered. Doherty took over in the final quarter, ripping back-to-back goals to reclaim control and ignite the sideline. Olivo followed with a clutch insurance goal off a feed from Morales, and from there, the Bison slammed the door. The defense locked in, shutting out Curry in the fourth to seal the 11-8 victory in emphatic fashion.

With momentum on their side, Nichols now turns its focus to the 2026 CNE Lacrosse Tournament, where the sixth-seeded Bison will square off against the third-seeded Hartford Hawks.
