Nichols College Athletics

MANSFIELD, Conn. (4/17/2026) - The Nichols College women's track & field team traveled to the Mansfield Outdoor Complex Friday morning to compete in the Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) hosted Bonnie Edmonson Classic. Off the back of individual results in the events, Nichols earned a team score of 35 pts, placing sixth of eight teams competing.

Summer Bruno, Lixion Koulmbai, Caminea Layman, Gabrielle McKayle - 4:28.19 (2nd, 8pts)

Caminea Layman broke the program record for the women's 400m hurdles event, tabbing 1:16.50 to beat out the top mark of 1:20.18 set by Rajchel Smardon (2021-24) at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship (4/30/2022). 

The women's 4x400 relay team consisting of Summer Bruno, Lixion Koulmbai, Caminea Layman, and Gabrielle McKayle rounded the record-breaking meet for the Bison. Their time of 4:28.19 breaks the previous No. 1 spot of 4:45.05 set by M. Clark, E. Pond, L. Phillips, and J. Yewcic at the CCC Championship (4/27/2019).

Women's track & field will return to competition at the CNE Championship, starting on Friday, April 24th and ending the day following, hosted by Gordon College.
