Nichols Welcomes Sebastian Noordzy as Next Head Men’s Volleyball Coach

DUDLEY, Mass. (4/17/2026) – The Nichols College Division of Athletics and Interim Director of Athletics Kristan Mallet have announced the hiring of Sebastian Noordzy as the sixth head coach in the history of the Nichols College men's volleyball program.

Noordzy brings a strong background in NCAA Division III volleyball, with experience spanning head coaching, assistant coaching, and player development for both men's and women's programs.

"We are thrilled to welcome Sebastian to "The Hill," said Mallet. "He has demonstrated an exceptional ability to build and sustain a competitive program while prioritizing the academic and personal development of his student-athletes. His energy, recruiting acumen, and commitment to a strong team culture make him the ideal leader for our men's volleyball program as we continue to build momentum."

Most recently, Noordzy served as the head women's volleyball coach at Salve Regina University, where he oversaw all aspects of the program since the 2020 season. In that role, he managed recruiting, scheduling, budgeting, compliance, and day-to-day operations, while developing a culture centered on accountability, leadership, and academic success. At the helm, the Seahawks maintained a 3.64 team GPA and consistently demonstrated high retention and competitive improvement, including a successful transition into the NEWMAC conference.

Prior to his time at Salve Regina, Noordzy served as an assistant women's volleyball coach at Johnson & Wales University, contributing to a 29–5 season that culminated in a GNAC Championship and an appearance in the NCAA Regional Final. During that campaign, he helped mentor four All-American student-athletes while assisting with scouting, match preparation, and recruiting efforts. Noordzy also brings experience on the men's side, having served as a volunteer assistant coach with the University of Rhode Island men's volleyball program. He contributed to a nationally competitive team that earned a top-five regional ranking and captured the 2019 NCVF Division I AAA National Championship.

A 2023 AVCA 30 Under 30 Award recipient, Noordzy is widely recognized for his ability to develop student-athletes and build competitive, cohesive programs.

"I would like to thank Interim Director of Athletics Kristan Mallet, along with Michael Mason and the rest of the hiring committee at Nichols College for this opportunity", Noordzy added. "The support that Nichols provides student-athletes is top tier and I am honored to lead Nichols men's volleyball and build upon the success the program has had in recent years."

Noordzy earned his Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Rhode Island and holds multiple certifications, including USA Volleyball IMPACT and SafeSport.
