BEVERLY, Mass. (4/13/2026) - This Monday at 3:00 PM, the Conference of New England (CNE) announced their most recent wave of weekly award honorees for men's tennis. With the blast, Nichols College men's tennis was well-represented, seeing the Athlete of The Week and Rookie of The Week awards claimed by freshman
William Albrikes. Both awards are Albrikes' first for his collegiate career.
Men's tennis turned in a successful week of in-conference match ups against opponents Endicott (3/8) and Hartford (3/11), each resulting in resounding wins for the Bison, 6-1 for both.
Against the Gulls, Albrikes secured a hard-fought 6-4 victory in No. 1 doubles before battling through a three-set singles match on the top court, coming out on top 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 in a decisive super tiebreak. Later in the week against Hartford, he elevated his play even further, cruising to a 6-1 win in No. 1 doubles and showcasing his composure in singles with a 7-6, 6-3 straight-set victory on court No. 1.
2025-26 Men's tennis has now earned five weekly awards in the conference, marking the most in a season since 2022-23.
The Bison will travel to West Hartford tomorrow to face conference opponent University of Saint Joseph (Conn.) at the Elizabeth Ferry Speer Tennis Complex, start time is set for 3:00 PM.
