Men’s Tennis Powers Past Colby-Sawyer, 4-3

DUDLEY, Mass. (3/30/2026) - Nichols College men's tennis battled for a key Conference of New England (CNE) victory on Monday afternoon, edging Colby-Sawyer College, 4-3, at the Robinson Tennis Courts to continue its strong run in conference play.

Following the game, Nichols College improves their record to 4-5-1, with their CNE record climbing to 2-1 on the season. The Chargers fall to 6-8, their conference record dropping to 2-1.

The Bison found themselves in an early deficit after Colby-Sawyer claimed two of the three doubles matches to take the opening point. Despite the losses, the pairing of Felipe Gonzalez and Ezra Raphael delivered a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles, preventing a sweep and giving Nichols momentum heading into singles action.

The Bison shifted into singles, where they gained an edge over the Chargers by winning four of six contests. Jodha Singh set the tone at the top of the lineup with a commanding 6-2, 6-4 victory, while Gonzalez followed with a strong performance at No. 3, earning a 7-5, 6-0 win. Raphael continued his standout day with a 7-6, 6-2 victory at No. 5, helping the Bison steadily chip away at the deficit.

Alexander Snitko fought hard on court No. 4, pushing his match up to a third set despite losing in the first 7-6. Ultimately Snitko ended with a loss, but held his opponent to a tight 7-6, 6-4, 6-4 win.

With the match hanging in the balance at a 3-3 tie, Andrew Emmel delivered the decisive point at No. 6 singles. After dropping the opening set, Emmel rallied with back-to-back set wins (4-6, 6-2, 6-2) to clinch the comeback victory for Nichols and cap off a thrilling conference clash.

The Nichols College men's tennis team will play against CNE opponent Western New England University tomorrow, at the Robinson Tennis Courts at 4:00 PM.
