DUDLEY, Mass. (3/25/2026) – The Nichols College baseball team staged a dramatic late-inning comeback to defeat Curry College, 11-10, in the Bison's first Conference of New England contest Wednesday afternoon at the Nichols Baseball Field. After trailing 10-6 entering the bottom of the ninth, the Bison erupted for five runs to walk it off and secure their first conference win of the season.
After today's game, the Bison now sit at .500 with a 6-6 record, going 1-0 in CNE action. The Colonels move to 1-8 and 0-1 in the CNE with the loss.
Nichols struck first in the second inning when
Collin Harty launched a solo home run to put the Bison on the board first. The Bison added another run in the third on an RBI single from
Julian Galvan before extending their lead to 4-2 in the fourth behind RBI efforts from
Liam Flynn and
Andrew Rocca.
After Harty's second solo home run of the day in the sixth made it 5-2, Curry responded with a massive eight-run seventh inning to take a 10-5 lead. The Bison chipped away in the bottom half of the inning, scoring once on an RBI groundout by
Anthony Hackert to cut the deficit to four.
Galvan and Hackert opened the inning with back-to-back singles before Harty added another base hit to load the bases. A hit-by-pitch brought in a run, and
Charles MacElhiney followed with a fielder's choice that the shortstop made a throwing error on the throw to the second baseman, which scored two more to make it a one-run game. Rocca delivered a clutch RBI single to tie the game at 10-10. With two outs and a runner on first and second,
Ryan Keating capped off the comeback with a walk-off RBI single through the right side, completing the five-run inning and sealing the 11-10 victory.
Nichols totaled 16 hits in the win, led by Keating's four-hit performance. Harty finished 3-for-4 with two home runs and two RBI, while MacElhiney added two hits and a pair of RBI.
On the mound,
Andrew Rocca earned the win after recording the final out in the top of the ninth.
The Bison return to action tomorrow afternoon, when they host Worcester Polytechnic Institute for a 3:30 PM game at the Nichols Baseball Field.
