Olivo and Arnold Honored with CNE Offensive Player and Specalist of the Week

DUDLEY, Mass. (3/2/2025) – The Nichols College men's lacrosse team grabbed two the CNE weekly honors as sophomore attacker Tyler Olivo was named CNE Offensive Player of the Week and senior specialist Travis Arnold earned Specialist of the Week recognition for the week of March 2nd.

Both Bison played pivotal roles in Nichols' lone contest of the week — a dominant 24–7 victory over Anna Maria on Saturday. The win marked the program's first 20-plus goal performance since 2022 and saw the Bison set a new single-game program record with 32 faceoff wins.

This is the first time the men's lacrosse program has had multiple weekly award winners since March 25, 2024, when Dylan DeRubeis and Brady Morgan earned CCC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Olivo orchestrated one of the most efficient offensive performances of the early season, exploding for six goals and three assists for nine total points — directly contributing to over one-third of Nichols' 24 goals. The sophomore scored on 75 percent of his shot attempts (6-for-8) and placed seven of his eight shots on target (.875 SOG percentage), consistently breaking down the defense and capitalizing on his opportunities. Beyond the scoring column, Olivo added four ground balls and a caused turnover, impacting the game in transition and maintaining relentless pressure from the opening whistle.

Arnold delivered a near-flawless performance at the faceoff X, going 17-for-18 (.944) to completely tilt possession in Nichols' favor. His dominance allowed the Bison offense to control tempo and sustain scoring runs throughout the afternoon. The senior scooped up 16 ground balls — securing nearly every draw he won — and added a goal on two shots (both on goal), showcasing his ability to contribute beyond faceoff duties. Arnold's command at the X set the tone from start to finish and was a driving force behind Nichols' record-setting afternoon.

Olivo, Arnold and Men's Lacrosse  will be back on the road for their next contest where they take on UMass Boston at the James Cotter Field on Saturday March 7th at 1:00 PM.
