5 Home Runs Powers Baseball Past Immaculata, 17-6

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (3/12/2026) – The Nichols College baseball team exploded for 19 hits and five home runs on the way to a 17-6 victory over Immaculata University in their first game in the Ripken Experience at Socastee High School Field. The Bison scored in six different innings and built an early lead that they never let up.

With the victory, Nichols improves to 2-4 on the season while Immaculata falls to 2-7.

Nichols wasted no time getting on the board. In the top of the first inning, Ryan Keating doubled to begin the game and later scored on an RBI groundout from Anthony Hackert. Tyler Ladouceur launched a two-run home run to left field, and Liam Flynn homered to right center to give the Bison an early 4-0 lead after the first inning.

The Bison continued to add to their advantage in the second when Andrew Rocca delivered an RBI single to score Liam Flynn. Nichols then broke the game open in the third inning with three more runs, highlighted by a solo home run from sophomore Collin Harty and a two-run home run from Julian Galvan to push the lead to 8-0.

Immaculata got on the board in the third and fourth innings, but Nichols answered immediately in the fourth and fifth inning when Harty, Rocca, and Charles Macelhiney got RBIs, extending the lead to 11-2.

Nichols continued its offensive outburst in the seventh and eighth innings when Rocca hit a two-run home run, and the Bison added four additional runs to cap off a 17-run performance. Immaculata scored one run in the bottom of the eighth and ninth to make the final score 17-6 in favor of the Bison.

Rocca led the offensive surge with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, scoring three runs and driving in three. Flynn added three runs and two hits, while Galvan recorded two hits and two RBI. Harty, Hackert, and Ladouceur each drove in multiple runs as the Bison finished with 15 RBI in the contest. Ladouceur, Galvan, and Rocca's home runs were the first of their collegiate careers.

On the mound, Tony Abed earned his first collegiate win after allowing two runs over 3.2 innings. Nichols used six additional pitchers in relief to finish the game and held Immaculata to six runs on nine hits.

Baseball returns tomorrow for a seven-inning doubleheader against the University of Mary Washington. Game one will start at 5:30 PM on the Polo Grounds field at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
