DUDLEY, Mass. (2/23/2026) - Nichols College men's ice hockey freshman forward Gavin Duckworth was honored with the Conference of New England (CNE) Rookie of the Week Award the conference announced Monday at 3:00 PM. The award marks the first weekly silverware in Duckworth's collegiate career.

Duckworth's play this week proved nothing short of vital, assisting a goal in Saturday's game against Roger Williams University (2/20/2026) in a decisive 3-1 victory that propelled the Bison into their postseason push. Duckworth went on to assist yet another goal against No. 6 University of New England Nor'Easters on Friday (2/21/2026), finishing the week with two points in the highest margin he has seen in a week this season.

With the two assists to finish out the regular season, the freshman totaled a double-digit figure of ten points, seven coming from his help in the assist column throughout the 2025-26 season. 

With this last wave of the CNE's weekly honors, Duckworth's Rookie of the Week adds to the total tally of six weekly awards for the Bison, evenly matching last year's total of six.

This week on Wednesday, February 25th, Duckworth and men's ice hockey will travel to the Canton Ice House to face the conference playoff seeded No. 4 Curry College Colonels for the first round of the 2025-26 CNE Championship. Puck drop is set for 6:00 PM.
