Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men’s Basketball Holds Off Curry on Senior Day, 95-86

DUDLEY, Mass. (2/21/2026) – It was a showcase finish to the regular season for the Nichols men's basketball team, who held off conference opponent Curry College on Senior Day, 95-86 at the Nichols Athletic Center.

With the win, the Bison lock up the No. 4 seed in the upcoming CNE Championship Tournament, and improve to 14-11 (9-7 CNE). The Colonels, in what was their final game, finish out the campaign at 7-18 (3-13 CNE).

Nichols was efficient from the floor all game, marking their third game this season shooting 50% or better. As a team, Nichols finished the day going 34-of-59 (57.6%) from the field, and 8-of-15 (53.3%) from three. Contributing to that effort was senior guard Javen Flowers-Smith, who scored a team-high 27 points on 10-of-16 (62.5%) shooting, in addition to six assists and five steals. Classmate Kuany Teng was next in line with 15 points, his best outing this season, while graduate student Dominic Mello delivered 12 points on the night. Senior Olivier St. Louis completed the list of double-figure scorers with 11 points scored, in addition to five assists and a team-high seven rebounds.

Senior Shea Doherty had six of Nichols' first 11 points to start out, with the Bison cruising to an early 18-4 advantage through the game's opening seven minutes, capped by a Flowers-Smith three. The three-point success continued on the next pair of makes from the Bison, with Teng and junior Luke Chapman each knocking down shots from out far to make it 24-10 Nichols. Past the midway point of the half, the Bison continued to tighten their grip on the Colonels, with their lead jumping as high as 18 points on a highlight reel dunk from Flowers-Smith at 8:41. The Bison maintained their attack from then on out, landing one more field goal from beyond the arc off the hands of St. Louis, resulting in a commanding 53-37 lead at the break.

Nichols climbed out to their largest lead of 21 points following a pair of early Flowers-Smith jumpers to start the second half, both occurring inside the paint. However, despite maintaining a double-digit lead over the Colonels the majority of the half, the Bison encountered some turbulence late in the action, with Curry using a 17-3 run to pull to within five points at 89-84 with 2:00 left. Despite the effort, the Bison eventually reset thanks to a Cassidy Bonsu dunk at 1:21, before Mello cashed in for a series of free throws to lock up the home victory, 95-86.

The Bison, as the No. 4 seed in the CNE Tournament, earn hosting duties against No. 5 seeded Roger Williams University (12-13, 8-8 CNE), with the First Round clash set for Tuesday, February 24th at 7:00 PM.
