By break time, Nichols' lead had dwindled to just one point at 25-24, with Gordon landing a pair of late free throws.
However, the third quarter turned out to be a much different story for the Bison. Beginning with a Romano layup, Nichols overwhelmed the opponent with a 15-0 run, which also included 11 unanswered points from Smith with three straight makes from behind the arc. With the Bison in command, Gordon attempted to string together a run of their own, but ultimately fell into foul trouble as the Bison secured four of their next six points from the free throw line, leading to a 46-32 difference entering the fourth quarter.
Nichols entered cruise control in the final frame, and outscored the Fighting Scots 15-12 to win the contest, 61-44.
