Women's Tennis Closes Fall With Loss to UNE

DUDLEY, Mass. (10/24/2026) - The Nichols College women's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to the University of New England on Saturday afternoon at the Robinson Tennis Courts.

With the loss, the Bison fall to 3-9-1 overall and 3-7 in the Conference of New England (CNE). The Nor'easters improve to 11-4 overall and 6-4 in conference play.

The Nor'easters opened the afternoon by claiming the doubles point with victories at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. At No. 1, Madeline Frank and Nora Hill defeated Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi and Gianna Musumeci, 6-2. At No. 2, Andie Lamontagne and Sofia Salcedo Ladaga earned a 6-0 victory over Sarah Maher and Kaitlyn Tingle. UNE also received a win by default at No. 3 doubles.

Gonzalez Vallardi provided the Bison's lone point of the afternoon with a dominant performance at No. 1 singles. After dropping the opening game of her match, Gonzalez Vallardi rallied to defeat Frank in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.

UNE claimed the remaining five singles matches to secure the team victory. Hill defeated Cassie Rice at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-0, while Lamontagne earned a 6-3, 6-0 win over Musumeci at No. 3. At No. 4, Salcedo Ladaga defeated Tingle, 6-0, 6-0. Alyssa Fritschka picked up a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Maher at No. 5, and Olivia Crooker closed out the singles competition with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Jarys Perez at No. 6.
