DUDLEY, Mass. (10/17/2026) - The Nichols College football team mounted a second-half comeback but came up just short in a 34-31 setback against Curry College on Saturday afternoon at Michael J. Vendetti Field.

The Bison move to 2-4 overall and 2-1 in conference play, while Curry jumps to 4-2 (3-0 CNE).

Curry struck first with a 53-yard touchdown pass from Caden Borges to Wesley Williams just under three minutes into the contest. Nichols answered with a methodical 14-play, 80-yard drive, capped by a two-yard rushing touchdown from Will Migliaccio to even the score at 7-7 after the opening quarter.

The Colonels regained the lead early in the second quarter on a 19-yard touchdown run by Elia Bahuma. Bahuma added a second rushing touchdown from one yard out later in the period to extend Curry's advantage to 21-7. Nichols responded immediately on the ensuing kickoff, as Noah Gincastro returned it 86 yards for a touchdown to bring the Bison within eight. Curry answered with a 10-yard touchdown reception by Williams with 20 seconds remaining in the first half, sending the Colonels into the break with a 28-13 lead.

The Bison came out firing in the third quarter. After moving 75 yards in six plays, Nichols found the end zone when Migliaccio connected with Brett Lato for a 31-yard touchdown pass, before Lato added a two-point conversion reception to cut the deficit to 28-21.Nichols continued to chip away at the lead with a 14-play drive that covered 56 yards, which saw Jace McCarron convert a 21-yard field goal with 3:44 remaining in the third quarter, bringing the Bison within four points at 28-24.

Following a scoreless remainder of the third quarter, Curry extended its lead with a 29-yard touchdown pass from Borges to Williams with 9:36 left in regulation. The extra point attempt failed, leaving the Colonels ahead 34-24. However, Nichols refused to go away, covering 71 yards in nine plays on the following drive, culminating in Teyshon McGee punching in a five-yard rushing touchdown with 4:45 remaining, and McCarron's extra point made it a 34-31 contest.

The Bison defense forced Curry to punt on its next possession, giving Nichols one final opportunity with 18 seconds remaining. Migliaccio completed a 23-yard pass to Gincastro to move the ball to the Nichols 47-yard line, but two incomplete passes ended the comeback bid as time expired.

Migliaccio finished 19-of-29 passing for 204 yards and a touchdown while adding a rushing score. McGee led the Nichols ground game with 68 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Lato hauled in five receptions for 75 yards and a touchdown, while Gincastro recorded three catches for 37 yards and added the 86-yard kickoff return touchdown. Defensively, Nate Cook and Charles DeMartino led the Bison with 10 total tackles apiece. Cook also recorded two tackles for loss, while Dominic Kesell added eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Nichols finished with 304 yards of total offense, including 204 passing yards, and converted seven of its 11 third-down opportunities.

Football will next face Endicott College (5-0, 2-0 CNE) in a road conference contest on Saturday, October 24th at 12:00 PM.
