Coletti Double-Double Helps Bison Stamp Conference Win Over WIT, 75-48

DUDLEY, Mass. (1/6/2026) - The Nichols College women's basketball team faced the Wentworth Institute of Technology Leopards at home on Tuesday, marking their first game at home since before the break. The Bison surged past the Leopards to secure their highest win margin of the season since the start of the season at Dean College (11/8) in their 75-48 win over WIT.

Following the resounding win for the Bison, their overall record improves to 9-5 on the season, inching back to .500 for conference play at 2-3. The Leopards' loss puts them at the 1-12 mark for the season, 0-5 for opponents in the Conference of New England.

They were able to share the ball, paving the way for three double-digit scorers in tonight's contest. Leading the charge for the Bison was Summer Klein with her 13 points on the night, shooting an efficient 6-11 (54.5%). Following closely were Angie Coletti and Adriana Romano, both scoring 12 points with their efforts. Coletti also led on the boards, bringing down ten rebounds and effectively securing her first collegiate double-double. Coletti didn't stop with her proficiency in points and rebounds, sharing the ball for six assists, just four shy of a triple-double. Coletti lead in blocks with her two, coupled with a three-steal performance from both Romano and Dakoda Correia

A three-pointer within the first play of the first quarter gave Wentworth their only lead in the game, seeing a Bison surge of offense early on to establish and build ahead of the Leopards. With the help of two three-pointers from Alyvia Smith, Nichols were able to produce 20 points within the first period of play, only being answered with five points from the Leopards. The Bison ended the quarter of play up big, 20-8.

The second quarter featured the same song and dance coupled with a strong defensive that produced several blocks and transition scoring opportunities for the Bison. Correia picked two steals out of the play, fueling six fast break points for the Bison. Nichols went on to out rebound the Leopards 14-5, and saw a 12 point scoring output from the bench for the quarter, the most throughout all quarters of play. With the Bison scoring 24 points to cushion their lead heading into the half, they had matched their largest total point scored in a quarter since the win over Mitchell College (12/15) earlier this season. Nichols headed to the third up, 44-25.

In the third quarter, the Leopards began to trade blows with the Bison, trying to find an opening to get the game back in their favor. Though Wentworth was able to knock down 15 points in retaliation, the Bison were able to consistently maintain a 19+-point lead throughout the period. To end the quarter, the Bison found themselves up once again, 59-40.

The fourth and final quarter of the match saw the largest point margin of the game in favor of the Bison. An Adison Whitty three-pointer at 2:17 put Nichols up 31 points, adding to an already established lead that would carry the team to victory with the final score in favor of the Bison, 75-48.

Nichols could rely on the bench this game, outscoring the Leopards' bench performers 27-3. The Bison also produced 44 points in the paint, matching the season's highest total occurring at Dean College (11/18).

The Nichols College women's basketball team will return to conference play at Roger Williams University on January 10th; competing at the Campus Rec Center Gymnasium with a start time of 1:00 PM.
