Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Hamel and Tremblay Score in Loss at Suffolk

BOSTON, Mass. (1/30/26) - The Nichols College men's ice hockey team traveled to Suffolk University to face the current Conference of New England (CNE) leader on Friday night. After a hard fought conference contest at the Louis E. Porrazzo Memorial Skating Rink, the Bison inevitably fell to the Rams, 2-6.

Following the conference loss, the Bison dropped to 7-11-0 on the season with a 4-9-0 record in the CNE. The Rams improve with a now 11-7-1 record, 11-3-1 in the conference.

The first period saw a standout performance from goaltender Liam Choquette, who posted 17 saves in the period to help the efforts in keeping Suffolk to a scoreless 20 minutes. With said defense keeping the Bison solid in canceling out these scoring attempts, Nichols built on this momentum to establish an early lead over the Rams. With under a minute left at :53, Aaron Hamel scored a goal to cap off their first period efforts, assisted by Gavin Duckworth and Tristan Kimmen. The Bison left the ice at the horn, up 1-0.

The second period saw the Rams at their strongest in the game, capitalizing on a 5-on-4 5:00 minute power-play that began at 17:30. In quick succession, Suffolk sank three consecutive goals on that same power-play at 14:34, 14:16, and 13:47, giving the Rams a 3-1 lead. Suffolk would then go on to add to their lead more before the end of the second with a score at 11:10, a 4-1 push in favor of the home side with little time left in the second. Nichols retaliated with a score of their own at :50 from Justin Tremblay, an assisted goal from CJ Zezima, the continued points leader for the Bison. The second ended with Nichols down, 2-4.

The third period of play saw double-digit shot efforts from the Bison, but Suffolk continued to pile on the scoring department with goals at 15:30 and an empty-net score at :42, sealing the game at 2-6 with a Nichols loss.

Tristan Kimmen led the Bison in blocks with four and a 34 save night from Choquette.

Men's ice hockey will return for their Senior Night, Staff & Faculty, and SAAC Athletes-4-Athletes game tomorrow against Suffolk University, hosted at Levy Rink with a start time of 3:40 PM.
