Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Caceda And Breen Notch First Goals on Season to Best Albertus Magnus, 2-1

NEW HAVEN, CONN. (1/3/2026) - The Nichols College women's ice hockey team traveled to New Haven on Saturday to compete in their second consecutive game against the Albertus Magnus College Falcons. At the final horn of their contest at the Ralph Walker Skating Rink, the Bison came out on top against the now formerly undefeated Falcons, 2-1.

Following the win, the Bison improve their record to 3-9-0, and the Falcons pick up their first loss of the season, dropping to 8-1-1.

The first period saw a scoreless performance from both sides, featuring a strong defensive performance from freshman goaltender Ivy Grant. Grant, whose 22 saves against Albertus Magnus the day prior were nearly duplicated in her 21 on the night, posted nine saves in the first period to keep the Bison floating against a Falcons offense that saw two power-play opportunities. Nichols also saw a period-high in their shots with an even ten.

The Bison notched their first goal early at 16:38, a first score of the season for sophomore Angalisa Caceda, assisted by Taylor Breen and Kasey Litwin. Nichols didn't let up and added to the scoring column at 11:34, effectively giving themselves a larger lead following senior forward Taylor Breen's first score on the season, with credit from a well-placed puck thanks to Kaylyn Bourque with her assist. The Bison found themselves with a comfortable lead yet to be answered going into the third, 2-0.

In the third period, the Falcons successfully retaliated with a goal at 13:39, and lessened the lead for Nichols, 2-1. Following the goal, Grant stopped four equalizer opportunities, coupled with blocks from Cela MacDougall and Rhea Bullens to bolster their defense. The Bison held out, picking up a non-conference win on the road, and putting an end to the best start Albertus Magnus College women's ice hockey has seen as a program.

Women's ice hockey will return to Levy Rink on Friday, January 9th. Dropping the puck at 3:40 PM against non-conference opponents Rivier University.
