WINDSOR, Conn. (9/7/2025) – The Nichols women's golf team opened its 2025 fall season at the Hartford Hawks Women's Invitational this weekend, hosted by the University of Hartford at the par-70 Keney Park Golf Course.
Forecasted rain interrupted the tournament on day two, resulting in the tournament being shortened to just a single-round affair. The Bison, as a result of their play in the opening round on Saturday, claimed a sixth place finish out of nine competing teams in the tournament with a score of 365 (+85).
Junior
Felicia Zander, in her Nichols golf debut, led the way in a two-way tie for 16
th after shooting a 16-over par round with one birdie on the 13
th hole. Sophomore
Isabella Fleury finished just one stroke back of Zander to claim 18
th place, carding an 87 (+17) with two pars on the front nine.
Senior
Kaitlin Baca was next on the Bison leaderboard, tying for 25
th place with a final score of 91 (+21). She was followed by junior
Gabrielle Maranchie, who tied for 40
th with a 101 (+31), and sophomore
Eva Melanson who took 42
nd with a 106 (+36).
Next up, the Bison head to Westfield, Massachusetts to play in the Westfield State Invitational on Sunday, September 14
th at Tekoa Country Club.
