SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (9/18/2025) - The Nichols College field hockey team traveled to Mount Holyoke College on Thursday evening for a non-conference contest, where they fell by a final score of 4-0 to the Lyons at the MHC Turf and Track Complex.
With the loss, the Bison drop to 2-5 (0-1 CNE) overall, while the Lyons improve to 4-3 on the season.
The Bison held the host Lyons scoreless in the first quarter, but the home side broke the scoreless tie just 1:42 into the second quarter. The Lyons then added a second goal to expand their lead to 2-0 in the 20
th minute of the contest, which would be the difference come halftime with Mount Holyoke also owning an 8-0 shots advantage through the first 30 minutes of action.
The Bison came out of the half with a more energized attack, generating four shots in the third quarter. However, the Lyons applied their own offensive pressure, and eventually struck a third time at the 41:33 mark of the period. Mount Holyoke's final goal of the night came at the 55:40 mark of a home-favored fourth quarter, capping off the 4-0 win for the Lyons.

Jessa Altemose (2-5) was the starter in net for the Bison, logging one save through 30 minutes played, while junior
Fallyn Belisle made her season debut in the second half of the game, making seven stops.
Nichols resumes its CNE schedule this Saturday, September 20
th when it hosts newcomer Johnson & Wales University (4-1, 1-0 CNE) for a 1:00 showdown at Vendetti Field.
