Leaning on Experience: Women's Tennis 2025 Season Preview

DUDLEY, Mass. (8/22/25) - The 2025 season is quickly approaching, and Nichols College women's tennis are playing to win under new leadership from coach Javier Godoy Gomis, and Jose Nunez; former men's tennis player now graduate assistant on coaching staff.

Gomis brings coaching experience from his roles as a volunteer and a graduate assistant at Nichols College spanning the last three years. The six-time champions of the Conference of New England (CNE) came off of a successful season in 2024-25 that produced an appearance in the NCAA tournament.

The Bison finished the season with an overall record of 11-10, including an undefeated 6-0 mark in conference play. Their regular season success put them against No. 4 Roger Williams in the CNE Tournament Semifinal ending in a 4-0 sweep, setting the tempo for another impressive 4-0 sweep against No. 3 Endicott College in the CNE Tournament Final.

While the program sees the departure of four players, familiar names are added in Catherine Pollock and Cassie Rice. Rice will make her women's tennis debut as a dual-sport athlete having already played a season with the women's soccer team.

Of the five returners from the 2024-25 season, four Bison were honored by the conference, highlighted by CNE Rookie of the Year Kamora Helton and CNE Tournament MVP Charis Vogler. Helton also was awarded First Team honors for both singles and doubles. They are joined by Pamela Gonzales Vallardi who was honored with First Team (doubles) and Second Team (singles) and Cora Brosch (Second Team Doubles).

The season opener against the hosting Bridgewater State University on Tuesday, September 9th will be the first matchup between both programs in each other's respective history.
