DUDLEY, Mass. (8/18/2025) - The Nichols Men's Soccer program has a new look heading into the 2025 season, with Marco DeVito stepping in as the new Head Coach. A wave of fresh talent on the pitch signals an exciting new era for Bison soccer as they gear up for a demanding non-conference schedule and Conference of New England (CNE) play.
DeVito was named the 20th Head Coach of the Men's Soccer team in late February following the resignation of former Head Coach Chris Traina. DeVito has worked with several collegiate men's soccer programs in the past five years, including as an Assistant Coach at Tufts University in 2024, the Assistant Men's Soccer Coach at Babson College from 2022 to 2024, and as a Graduate Assistant for the Anna Maria Men's Soccer team from 2020 to 2022. In his time at Tufts, he was part of the coach staff that earned the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year honor in 2024.
DeVito's coaching staff for the 2025 season includes:
- Rob Squillante – A young, talented Assistant Coach from Rhode Island who's well connected and respected in the region. He will be responsible for on-field coaching and scouting opposition.
- Matheus Campos – Campos will be returning as a Graduate Assistant this year for the Bison. Recently graduating from his undergraduate degree at Nichols College and in his second year of the master's program, he is a true ambassador of the program. Campos also brings experience working with professional teams in Brazil, where he is native of.
- Nicholas Henriques – A ambitious and driven Assistant Coach for the program. A Nichols alum, Henriques has been coaching in the area for several years. He will assist with on-field coaching and scouting opposition.
- Eric Gemboski – Gemboski is another returner from last season as he will retain his role as the Goalkeeper Coach. Gemboski is the owner of Clean Sheet GK Inc. and is well respected in the New England area.
- Dawson Quint – A first year volunteer coach and four-year alum of the Men's Soccer team. Quint will balance coaching duties with his role in the Nichols Division of Athletics as the Assistant Director of Athletic Communications/Operation Coordinator.
"We are really excited for the 2025 campaign as it's our first together as a staff." Head Coach DeVito added, "We'll have a lot of new faces in the program and we've all been working extremely hard behind the scenes to get our program back to where we feel it belongs. There is a sense of quiet confidence within the group that we can set the foundation for years to come."
On the pitch, the new era of Bison soccer will see the return of captains:
William Pugliese-Savage,
Mick Tarozzi,
Carl Headges-Small, and
Ryan Bray.
In the net, the Bison's goalkeepers for this season will consist of senior
Derek Axon, Junior transfer
Anthony Grguric, and incoming freshman
Madison Ferrao from South Africa.
The Bison will open up the season at home on Friday, August 29th against Anna Maria College. That following Sunday, The Hill will host Senior Day in a match against University of Maine-Farmington. Kick off for that contest is set for 1 PM. The Men's Soccer team will continue their home stand with three more games at the Nichols College Soccer Field, with the September 13th game being the Bison's first Conference of New England match against Johnson & Wales University.
