Bison See Six Named to 2025 CSC Men's At-Large Team

College Sports Communicators (CSC) Release 

DUDLEY, Mass. (6/23/2025) – Six Nichols College student-athletes from three different programs were selected to the College Sports Communicators' (CSC) Academic All-District At-Large team, which was formally announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Making up the list of six is graduate student Tanner Soracco, seniors Nathan Carl, Luke Harvie, Dylan DeRubeis and CJ Cadigan, and junior Aaron Hamel. Men's Hockey topped the list with three honorees, followed by men's lacrosse with two and men's volleyball with one.  Soracco, Harvie and Carl are each making their second appearance on the CSC Academic All-District team, while all remaining athletes earn the recognition for the first time.

Nominated by CSC members, the Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance both on the field and in the classroom. Selected students must be at least of sophomore status academically and athletically, maintain a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and be considered a significant contributor to their respective sport, with base criteria ranging from sport-to-sport.

Out of the Bison lineup, Soracco was the lone individual to advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, which will be officially announced on July 16-17.

Soracco, a right-side hitter from Oxford, Connecticut, took home All-NEVC First Team honors this past season as one of Nichols' top talents, sporting a stat line of 311 kills, 223 digs, 51 blocks and a 2.73 attack percentage. Soracco also boasted a 3.70 undergraduate GPA as a General Business major, alongside a 3.93 graduate GPA in pursuit of his Master of Business Administration degree this spring.

Carl, a forward from Sherwood Park, Alberta, was one-of-two All-Conference performers for the Men's Ice Hockey program this year, landing on the All-CNE Third Team. He finished the season ranked second on the team in points (16), matching eight goals with eight assists, which included a pair of game winning goals and seven power-play points. Carl graduated this spring with a 3.94 GPA, receiving his degree in finance. 

Harvie, who resides in Lethbridge, Alberta, played in 25 games this year as a senior captain of the men's ice hockey program, registering eight points behind one goal and six assists. Following the campaign, Harvie was named to the CNE Community Service Team, which he paired with a 3.94 GPA in pursuit of a finance and economics degree this spring.

Hamel, a junior from Okemos, Michigan, makes his first appearance on the CSC All-District Team after appearing in all 26 games this season for the ice hockey program, scoring five goals and 12 assists for 17 points in that timeframe. Off the ice, he is the proud owner of a 3.88 GPA as a corporate finance & investments major.

DeRubeis, a senior captain of the men's lacrosse program, was the team's top performer this past season, notching a team-high 42 points on 24 goals and 18 assists, along with an additional stat line of 34 ground balls, and six caused turnovers. The Wayland, Massachusetts native also owned a 3.96 GPA in the classroom, earning his marketing degree this past spring.

Finally, Cadigan rounds out the list of Bison honorees as a senior on the men's lacrosse program. The Saugus, Massachusetts native appeared in all 17 games this spring, scoring 20 goals with two assists for 22 points, rich ranked third on the team. From the classroom, the Bison senior owned a 3.74 GPA, and received his degree in business analytics this spring.
