PORTLAND, Maine (5/9/2025) – The Nichols College women's tennis team ended its 2025 campaign with a 4-0 loss to No. 14-ranked Tufts University in the opening round of the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon inside the APEX Racquet & Fitness Center.
The loss concludes a highly successful campaign for the Bison program, who claimed the Conference of New England Championship crown this past fall. The Bison close out the year with an 11-10 (6-0 CNE) overall record.
In doubles, Tufts quickly picked up wins at all three flights, winning by scores of 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0 in that order.
The Jumbos tightened their grip in singles play as they earned a 6-0, 6-0 sweep against
Antonia Carrero at No. 2 singles, which was followed by a 6-1, 6-1 final against
Pamela Gonzalez Vallardi at No. 3 singles to extend their match lead to 3-0. Tufts then clinched the sweep following a 6-0, 6-2 win over Brosch at No. 6 singles.
Three members of the Bison lineup were still in action when the match was called. Freshman
Kamora Helton was down 6-1, 5-1 in her battle at No. 1, but
Johanna Schroeder was staging a comeback at No. 4 singles with a 5-4 lead in set two after falling in the first, 6-0.
Charis Vogler was also fighting from behind, drawing even at 4-4 in the second set after losing 6-0 in the first.
