How The Bison Got Here: Nichols is set to make its 12
th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, as well as their fourth in a row as the 2025 Conference of New England Champions. They secured the automatic berth into the tournament with a 4-0 sweep of Colby-Sawyer College in the title match, which equally brought their season record to 12-11 overall with a perfect 9-0 record against conference opponents.
The Bison also aim to make their fourth consecutive NCAA Second Round match, as the team has previously earned First Round wins over Farmingdale State (2024), Houghton (2023) and Manhattanville (2022), all by scores of 5-0.
The Opponent: The Gators, who are ranked No. 68 nationally in the most recent ITA polls, also earned themselves an automatic berth into the tournament following their third consecutive Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship title, where they swept PAC opponent Grove City, 4-0. The Gators were also perfect in conference play this season, going 8-0 inside a 20-6 overall record, while also entering the tournament field with 13 straight wins.
Allegheny is making its third straight appearance in the NCAA Tournament, looking to capitalize on their first-ever NCAA tournament victory over Messiah University (5-0) in last year's First Round.
Who to Watch: Nichols, under the guidance of 2025 CNE Coach of the Year
Ron Gendron, brings a deep lineup into Friday's contest, with CNE Player of the Year
Richard Hartmann Luzio helping lead the way as the team's lock at the No. 1 position. The next pair in the Bison depth chart is that of senior
Jose Nunez and junior
Leon Zeis, who each took home All-CNE First Team Singles honors this spring with a combined 15 wins in singles play.
Two additional players,
Kerem Subasi and
Enzo Matos Balleux, currently sit tied for the team-lead in singles wins with 10 apiece, while Hartmann Luzio made up half of Nichols' top doubles tandem with fellow senior
Caio Dieckmann, with the duo owning a team-best 10-8 record.
