Softball to Host CNE Championship, Beat Gulls 2-1 in Boston

BOSTON, Mass. (5/10/2025) – The Nichols softball team continued its historic postseason run with a hard-fought 2-1 win over No. 1-seeded Endicott, earning the right to host the 2025 Conference of New England (CNE) Championship game tomorrow in Dudley.

The Bison struck first in the bottom of the third inning when senior Chloe Steiniger lifted a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring classmate Emma West-Testo from third base to give Nichols a 1-0 lead. Endicott responded in the top of the fourth, capitalizing on a Bison error to even the score at 1-1.

With momentum hanging in the balance, Erin Gour led off the bottom of the fourth with a rocket to left-center field—a solo home run that proved to be the game-winner.

Backed by strong defense and clutch pitching, the Bison shut out the Gulls over the final three innings. Chelsea Indyk earned the win, allowing no earned runs while striking out six and walking just one.

With the victory, Indyk improved to 22-5 on the season and set a new program career record with her 47th career win. She also extended her single-season program record for innings pitched, now surpassing 165.

Nichols will now face Western New England in a rematch from earlier this week for the CNE Championship tomorrow in Dudley. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. If the Bison win game one, a winner-take-all game two will follow 30 minutes later.
