HOBOKEN, N.J. (4/19/2025) – The historic postseason run of the Nichols College men's volleyball program came to an end on Saturday evening with a NCAA Quarterfinal Round loss to No. 5 Juniata College, 3-1 (19-25, 22-25, 25-21, 11-25) inside Canavan Arena.
The Bison close the cover on the 2025 campaign with a 20-15 (6-0 NEVC) overall record.
Graduate student outside hitter
Jack Normandin delivered 11 kills in Nichols' final outing of the season, which came by way of a .375 attack percentage alongside 11 digs for his third consecutive double-double. Fellow graduate student
Tanner Soracco collected eight kills with five digs, while
Chandler Olson dished out a team-best 21 assists. In total, the Bison connected for 40 kills on a .237 team clip, while drawing even with the Eagles in digs, 28-28.
The Bison would manage eight kills as a team in the opening set, while hitting .190. The Eagles raced out to an 8-2 lead and would never trail in the set, eventually bringing the score to set point at 24-15. However, the Bison battled back late in the frame with a 7-3 run featuring a kill and ace by Normandin, trimming the deficit to 24-19. Despite this, the Eagles put an end to the Bison streak by scoring a kill for the winning point.
The two sides traded the lead several times up to an 8-8 tie, before Juniata fired off three straight points to jump ahead, 11-8. Nichols returned the favor with four of the next six points, moving them back to within one point of the Eagles, but Juniata maintained a balanced attack to remain one step ahead of the Bison. Nichols gave it one last try late in the frame, pairing a McCabe kill with three Juniata errors to make it a 22-21 score, but the Eagles persisted and took the win 25-22 to claim a 2-0 match lead.
With their backs against the wall, the Bison got off to a stronger start in the third set by taking a 11-6 lead, fueled by three Normandin kills to force Juniata into a timeout. Following the pause, the Bison kept their pace with the Eagles by matching them point-for-point down the stretch, pushing their lead to as many as six points with the help of kills from Soracco,
In the fourth set, the Bison seemingly ran out of steam against the Eagles, with Juniata taking the win by a 25-11 final score.

Tanner Soracco were each named to the 2025 Hoboken Regional All-Tournament Team.
