Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Cadigan Nets 100th Career Point in Loss to Roger Williams

DUDLEY, Mass. (4/15/2025) – In their final home game of the 2025 season, the Nichols College men's lacrosse team fell to conference guest Roger Williams University, ___ at Vendetti Field.

With the loss, the Bison now stand to 3-13 (1-6 CNE) while the Hawks improve to 8-7 (4-2 CNE).

Despite the loss, the game was highlighted by senior attacker CJ Cadigan who surpassed 100-career points, scoring two goals with three ground balls and one caused turnover. Freshman Aydan Lockard was also a contributer offensively, scoring two goals of his own, while graduate student Cooper Melvin paced the defense with seven ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Senior goalkeeper Brady Morgan (3-13) made 18 saves in the loss, logging the full 60 minutes.

The Hawks held the Bison off the scoreboard through the first frame, and saw equal success on the opposite end of the field by building a steep 8-0 lead. However, after the Hawks struck for a ninth time at the 11:13 mark of the second quarter, the Bison offense came to life less than a minute later as freshman Jack Mattson found classmate Kane Williams for his ninth goal of the season, with Mattson chalking-up his first collegiate assist and point. To follow, Cadigan scored both of his two goals just 12-seconds apart, with the first coming off an assist by Melvin to cut the Roger Williams lead down to 9-3. The Hawks would strike once more before the end of the half, and lead 10-3 at the intermission.

The Bison attack would come up empty handed again in the third quarter, meanwhile Roger Williams stretched their margin to 15-3 entering the fourth. Lockard ended the Bison drought with his first of the day at 13:37 of the fourth, assisted by Dylan DeRubeis, while then adding his second goal at 10:14, unassisted to bring the action to 16-4 Hawks.

Following a lightning delay, the two sides traded the final pair of goals, with Conor Doherty scoring his 17th of the season for the Bison.

The Bison have just one more game left in the 2025 season, which will take place on Wednesday, April 23rd at Western New England University (7-8, 4-2 CNE). Opening faceoff is set for 4:00 PM at Golden Bear Stadium.
